RPM 1,190 Report post Posted November 18, 2019 So that's the upper mold you're making? And it releases due to the wax being applied to the original?

barnett468 418 Report post Posted November 19, 2019 I'm getting tired just watching you do this, because that is a massive amount of work. Did you know Monroe Weathers from Mustangs And American Classics, or Chuck Frankenstein or Ray at Cinema Vehicle Service?

Ridge Runner 1,112 Report post Posted November 20, 2019 The box is glassed to the hood mold ,i still have to finish the box ,flip it over ,and it weighs about 180 lbs. ,and trim the mold and pop out the hood 2 bryonbush and Grabber70Mach reacted to this
Ridge Runner 1,112 Report post Posted November 20, 2019 Cut holes for clamping ,flipped it over and trimmed the flange ,but still needs some more . The hood just about fell out with out any damage . The mold came out just about perfect except for a couple of chips at the ends of the scoops but i am very happy with the turn out . Oh ,and the ram air chamber made it in today ! 5 newstang, SWPruett, 1969_FEStang and 2 others reacted to this

Ridge Runner 1,112 Report post Posted November 21, 2019 Repairing the chips around the scoops this morning ,they couldnt chip at the top where it would have been no problem ,at least it wasnt much to deal with . The mold release peeled out of the mold in a sheet and left a nice shinny surface in the mold ,it will still get block sanded with 1000 up to 2000 and buffed . Next we start on the underbrace mold ...Oh boy ! 3 RPM, Caseyrhe and Grabber70Mach reacted to this
Ridge Runner 1,112 Report post Posted November 22, 2019 The under bracing is ready to primer tomorrow ,you can see how much i have to extend the ram air chamber . The chamber is fiberglass but i think i will take a light mold of it because i see no reason to destroy this one to extend it . I will make a new one i can cut up and extend . I think i will fill the opening because different motors hit in different places ,it will be easy to cut it for the motor that is in the car . 2 RPM and Grabber70Mach reacted to this
Ridge Runner 1,112 Report post Posted November 22, 2019 Under brace is in primer ,a good block sanding ,and fix a couple of places ,one more primer and it will be ready to make the mold 2 RPM and 1969_FEStang reacted to this

After you finish the moulds are you going to assemble the two halves and have yourself a full metal hood ?.
Ridge Runner 1,112 Report post Posted November 23, 2019 I have a full metal hood ,that is what the molds are being made from . The two haves from the new molds will make a complete fiberglass hood
