Rcodenewf 44 Report post Posted September 12, 2019 Just about finished this resto and we've installed 245/45ZR17 on the rear but unsure as to what to put on the front. Anyone have this size tire on their 70 ( convert)? Thanks...John
Pakrat 1,043 Report post Posted September 13, 2019 I have that size on the front of my '69 vert with 17X8 and 4.5 BS and 275/40-17 out back with 5.5 BS on 17X9's.
Rcodenewf 44 Report post Posted September 13, 2019 Interesting Pakrat: I'll check to see what the backspacing is on these rims. For some reason with those tires on the rear theres a lot of air above the tire to the quarter lip. Now i don't know the history on the leaf springs in this car as they were in the car when it came to me for resto. Regards...John
Vicfreg 771 Report post Posted September 14, 2019 I have Foose Knuckles on my 1970 convertible. 18"x9.5" in the rear with 5.5" back space. 17"x8" on the front with 4.5" back space. No issues with clearance. My rear fenderwells were hand modified (not cut) - rolled and I cut the rear axle bumper brackets off.
