Remote Motorized Side View Mirrors Using stock 1969 to 73 housings

I just ordered a pair of mirrors from Ebay. Should be here in about a month. Love this mod.

Listed on Ebay as items 142209712970 & 122267115919 if anyone else is looking. And they do international shipping.

Just need to get a switch.

The SN95 motors have a removable plastic backing that snap off the motors (the black plate shown in the last picture).  I trimmed it down to the size of our mirrors. My mirror glass is currently at the glass place being cut.

Same motors that I have used, and a very similar bracket as well...   Works great with no problems so far!!!   :)

Rich Ackerman- this is a very cool mod. An adjustable passenger mirror is almost a necessity, and I love the sequential arrows, but I see a potential hitch in the giddy-up. I've found two suppliers for the sequential arrows. Here is my problem- these appear to me to need a constant supply of voltage to operate. The turn signal line in our classic cars, is not a constant supply. The flasher makes it go on and off. Rich, have you tried to tie your mirror lights into your cars flasher system- and if so how does it react? Maybe you could do a video of that.

While not unsolvable this could be a hiccup. The power comes from the ignition switch to a fuse, then to the flasher, through the hazard warning switch, then to the turn switch which actually has 4 contacts, one for each corner of the car. That was the logical way to wire it up but if we need constant voltage with the turn switch on, then we have a problem. The easiest way I can see to resolve this is to make a timer circuit for the mirrors only, to keep the voltage high during those times when the flasher goes low.

Yes I used the two wire with the built-in sequencer. Yes I hooked it up to an electronic flasher module when I first got them and it still worked. I will video it. Another option is to add a small capacitor in line with the mirror sequential lights, but I have not experienced a need for it.

Here is the video. The flasher helps to keep the sequential arrows in sync with the other flashing bulbs.

Passenger side.  I cut down the existing lower tab due to the extra thickness of the motors, and then re-tapped it.  Epoxied tabs to the roof of the housing, and used a flat plate for the bracket to mount the motors to.   Another tip, look into the early 2000 ford mirror switch.  With a little enlarging of the mustang deluxe door panel mirror hole, the switch looks like it was made to be there!

I really like your choice of motors. The SN95 Mustang motor is the same as the T-bird motor for the same years (1989-97) I tried using a while back, but I chose not to use it because the vertical diameter of the mounting disc was a very tight fit and I did not think it would not clear the housing. Looks like you trimmed the bottom and top of the mount (circle with the mounting clips on the back of the plastic mirror base) and removed the clips off the mirror base. Question: Even without those clips on the top and bottom the base will stay clipped firmly on to the motor (disc)? I may have to give it another try.

The mirror base still has the tabs on the sides and they hold quite well. I have to flex the base in order to remove it. Will know more once I get the mirror glass installed and hit a few Illinois pot holes :)

I have question re the SN95 motors. The base that the mirror is bonded to clips onto the motor assembly. I am nervous about pushing it too hard. Is there a trick to it, or does it just push on? Thanks

Thanks for that. As they are very stiff to push on I was worried about having to push too hard and damaging the motor.

I have just finished this and it is a really great mod. I sourced motors from a US wrecking yard on eBay. For the switch I used a switch from an Australian AU Falcon. I fitted mine in the consul as it is right hand drive and I didn't want to cut the door trim. With seven wires from the switch and 3 wires from each motor it took a lot of trail and error to map out the wiring. In the end I still have the up/down part in reverse, but suspect it a result of a switch that is not from a US Mustang. For my Aussie mates I suspect there are motors in Aussie mirrors that would work but the difficulty is finding one that is small enough to fit in the housing. The SN95 motors give very little clearance and I had to grind out a bit of the housing so they didn't bind in full down. I had my local glass guy cut the mirrors. Original mirrors don't fully cover the motor.

All in all this was a fun job that doesn't involve a great amount of skill. The hard work was done by Rick in finding what works (Thanks). Really happy with the outcome.

This is a very cool mod and I'm constantly amazed at the ingenuity out there. My vert has the cable control on the driver's mirror and when the passenger side is off, I simply ask the wife to move it a little this way...a little more...oops, too much, back a little...that's good...down a little...no back up...
