foothilltom 33 Report post Posted June 27, 2019 Hi guys. Wondering about the correct setup for the fuel lines in the engine compartment. My poor Mustang was no doubt hacked up in its previous life and I want to get it relatively stock. Is the line going into the fuel pump (from the port on the engine compartment) supposed to be flexible tubing with an inline fuel filter? In other words, the filter is not up around the intake manifold? Is the line coming OUT of the fuel pump (to the carb) supposed to be a single piece of crazily bent steel tubing with threaded pipe connections on both ends? Did the stock carb have a threaded connection for the fuel inlet? The holley I plan to run just has the slip-on fuel inlet. I hope these questions make sense. Just wondering about the right way to approach this.
aslanefe 333 Report post Posted June 27, 2019 On my 2 bbl small block cars the metal line coming to pump through the hole on inner fender extends a few inches long and a rubber hose connects that metal tube to the pump. The line from the pump to carb (crazy bent, with threaded end) is also metal, but not all the way to the carb. The carb has a filter threaded on the inlet, there is about 3 inches long rubber hose between metal tube from the pump and the filter.
aslanefe 333 Report post Posted June 27, 2019 You can put a filter before the pump if you have the crazy bent tube and want to use it with your holley.

1969_Mach1 333 Report post Posted June 27, 2019 However you run the lines, the filter should be between the pump and the carb. Not on the suction side of the pump. There is already a filter screen on the end of the pickup tube inside the tank to stop large particles.
