RPM 1,190 Report post Posted June 23, 2019 Been in the Detroit area for a few days and thought I'd check out the place. While it's not an automotive museum, it does have a lot of cool auto stuff. 1966 & 2016 Lemans winners: I forgot about this tid bit until I saw it, these Lemans cars required a spare tire per the rules of the day. Check out the spare tire: 1965 Indy winner Jim Clark: AJ Foyt car: Mustang I concept car: 1 Shep69 reacted to this

Dave R. 85 Report post Posted June 24, 2019 The Henry Ford is a great place to spend a day. Trains, planes and automobiles. Farm equipment, furniture, stationary engines. A pre-fab aluminum house prototype. All setting on 500,000 sq. ft. of herringbone teak flooring. Don't overlook Greenfield Village, it's on the same property, and the Rouge Plant tour leaves from The Henry Ford. Dave R.
RogerC 136 Report post Posted June 25, 2019 Glad you had a good time. I was there back around 06 or 07 as I was in dearborn for training. I spent some time in the research library. Got a lot of info on the 62 prototype mustang and the GT40. Had some copies made. They were very accomodating. I asked for info on the 62 prototype and they brought out a large folder with drawings, articles and inter-office correspondence. Had to wear white cotton gloves to handle the paperwork. 1 RPM reacted to this

Way cool RogerC. Where exactly is the research library? Yes, Sharon and I had a great time. We drove from the Cincinnati area just to do the Museum and plant tour. Dave R. One of the maintenance guys was replacing a couple of pieces of flooring and I ask him how many SF but not about the cost. Way cool place. Dave R.
