b1002 10 Report post Posted May 27, 2019 I have a 69 mustang that I’ve changed out the old wheel and tire combo to a more modern mustang wheel and tire combo. This new combo tends to drift/walk across the road while driving. I’m using wheel spacers for new setup. When I switch out wheel and tire combo to the old narrow set the car doesn’t drift/walk across the road while driving. What cause this issue the wheel spacers or wider wheel & tire combo or could it be possible something else. thanks for reading and helping out
barnett468 418 Report post Posted May 27, 2019 To start with, do you have a photo of the tire tread? If the face of the tread is flat, the car will drift/wander a little if it is a 70's mustang or camaro etc.
Brian Conway 264 Report post Posted May 27, 2019 Ditto that. Flat center tread, new cheap tires, on my 65 and they would actually follow the grooves on the road surface. Two thousand miles later, new set of ( hate to say it ) BFG TA's and the drift is gone. So yeah the tire makes a difference. Brian
