3Katz 26 Report post Posted February 2, 2020 One of the problems with not pulling parts of yourself is trying to figure where they go! This is the trim for the front and rear screens, I think I have it all... I've heard that the aftermarket trim pieces are not too great so was going to send all the trim of for repair. I had to get a tailgate for my 73 pickup, They are advertised as ford tooling and exact replacement just like ford made. The looks and fitment was good but the weight was off by at least 6lbs so it was thinner metal. will have to see if it holds up to 40+ years of service. 3Katz 26 Report post Posted February 3, 2020 Thanks, I'll probably send the originals off but it's a 6 month wait list! One of those things you learn too late - send the trim off first. If there were good repop items available I would just get new as I imagine the cost will probably be comparable once the labour hours to do the originals add up. 3Katz 26 Report post Posted February 4, 2020 The engine bay repair work is pretty much done, 50 years of life had left over 100 holes to fill! There must have been all manner of items bolted or screwed to the inner panels. The heater/ac pipe passageways have been filled. The sump tank mounting in the boot is underway also. The rear end is almost complete, the shocks have been located and floor reliefs in the process of being fabricated for the roll bar arms. 3Katz 26 Report post Posted February 6, 2020 Fuel tank construction underway, it's looking great. And the wheels which were only just ordered have arrived already! Trans Am Race Engineering are fantastic to deal with and they are available in the States as well. They even machined up and fitted the steel inserts for the 5/8 studs. 3Katz 26 Report post Posted February 7, 2020 The fuel tank is finished and sump tank recessed into trunk. The fuel tank holds 75 litres which is about the standard capacity I believe The engine breathes out the bottom of the sump tank. Unfortunately there are not many choices here in Aus for 235/60 15s without white lettering on the sidewall but these will do the job. 3Katz 26 Report post Posted February 14, 2020 Radiator support done and made removable. I hope I'm not pulling the engine and trans out often but this will make life alot easier when it's required. The scoop almost finished, we aren't allowed to have carbs etc hanging out the hood here in QLD unless under a scoop. 3Katz 26 Report post Posted April 7, 2020 The headers that came with the engine were not even close to fitting even with some tweaks, I was probably a bit optimistic there... They came in handy though, new headers made up following the same step design 1 3/4, 1 7/8 to 2" but the bends configured to fit easily. We able use the collectors too. 3Katz 26 Report post Posted April 26, 2021 Well a few beers have downed since my last post! No it's not another unfinished project, it's just hit slow mode for a while. I dropped it off to the body shop a year ago and it's still there. Once there it joined the queue and was blasted, a few nasties were found which need fixing. We could have repaired the original 1/4s but decided to replace them. This allows us to get right in there and address any other issues which may arise in years to come as well. It's a bit of a side project with the shop unfortunately but it is getting 2 days per week spent on it. As long as it's moving forward that's ok with me at this stage, as I'm pushed for room in my shed at the moment. I've kept myself busy re-powering the tow rig pictured at the top. 500hp is bare minimum for a daily driver I reckon... I'm looking forward to reading and catching up on some of the old (hopefully completed) projects on here and also checking out the new ones :) Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

They either had the Barra 6 cylinder or the apology that was the 5.4 3V V8. You'll get 500 easy out of a turbo Barra. They are even being sent to the US.
