Winter Storage

Recommended Posts

Have to store my SporstsRoof outside this winter. Normally I run straight water with a quart of Water Wetter. Checked it today it's not going be ok for winter.

Got to thinking instead of draining and refilling with antifreeze what if I just drain it completely of all existing liquid ? Leave it sealed but empty.

No matter how well you drain it, rad and block drains there will be water still in there.  Just drain and add the appropriate coolant.  In the spring when you get it going  and you have a problem, cracked block, pushed out core plugs, heater core you will wish you added the anti-freeze

You should always run some anti freeze in your engine. Anti freeze has rust inhibitors and buffers in the mix helping the cooling system. Straight water will allow rust to develop, in the summer if you're having a problem with running hot weaken the mix. Fifty percent anti freeze will reduce the cooling efficiency by about 15%.
