Shorty Headers

Im looking at getting some shorty headers for my 302 in my 56 F-100 project. Currently running block huggers but with the new power rack and the new mustang 2 IFS they won’t fit. 

I’m looking around and most of the shorty headers have a ball and a socket flange arrangement. Are these any good or am I better of trying to find some with the standard 3 bolt flange. I’m worried that the ball and socket with only two bolts will leak.

I sure hope the ball and socket work, just welded them on the 69 hedders. Mine have 3 bolts though, not 2.

X2 I hope so to. The Hedman shorties I got for my 5.0 for the 69 Coupe have the ball & socket for the collectors, but mine have 3 bolts also.

Do they have any type of gasket or is it just steel on steel on the joint.

Check with CPP, Classic Performance Parts, or Midfifty.  Midfifty is a big F100 parts supplier.  They might sell something that will meet your needs.

The ball & socket joint is steel on steel, no gasket.

I've had both and in my opinion the ball and socket works a lot better than the standard flange.

My Hedman headers have both.  Ball and socket is way more flexible in terms of aligning your exhaust.
