CG in TX 16 Report post Posted October 18, 2018 I had to replace the entire cowl for my 69 Mach 1 rust bucket project. When searching for the correct rivets for my VIN I came across a VIN border for 1969 Mustangs. I have not seen a VIN border on the 69s I've seen. Are they supposed to have the border? barnett468 418 Report post Posted October 18, 2018 The 69's should have scroll/border but they were reversed stamped on late 69's so the letters were raised instead of recessed. http://www.martiauto.com/fraud/VINTag.cfm Here is another early tag with the correct rivets. . This is a late 69 tag with the raised letters. .

Guillaume69 150 Report post Posted October 26, 2018 Interestingly enough, my 69 is a Dearborn late production car (July 69), and has recessed letters. And yes, it’s the original VIN Tag. There might have been some differences from one factory to another? G
