Cantedvalve 128 Report post Posted October 4, 2018 I have a small powered subwoofer. It will PHYSICALLY fit behind the panel, but would require some bracketry. Question is, would it be a good idea? Semi-worried about rattles and vibration. But it would make for a stealthy install.
barnett468 418 Report post Posted October 4, 2018 it won't rattle if it is mounted properly but i wouldn't want to drill holes in the quarter trim for the sound.
Cantedvalve 128 Report post Posted October 4, 2018 Would I need to? It’s a sub... I thought it would be okay back there sound wise
barnett468 418 Report post Posted October 4, 2018 there is a lot of misunderstanding as to how a sub woofer works thanks to lots of misinformation online and even from some mfg's, but to make a long story short, yes, it will deliver better sound if it is facing the inside of the cabin with no obstructions like bolting it to the panel with lots of holes drilled in the panel, but in general, speakers work better if they have some type of enclosure, and enclosure design is a science unto itself. . RPM 1,190 Report post Posted October 4, 2018 Very true Mike. You also need to keep in mind accessibility after the install. What looks cool initially, is sometimes a pita to work on later.
Cantedvalve 128 Report post Posted October 4, 2018 I think I am going to go with my original idea and mount them under the front seats.
