Shep69 149 Report post Posted September 6, 2018 The 302 that I have in my 56 F100 came out of a 85 Lincoln . The balancer has marking on it E4TE-A3A . It has a few cracks on the rubber ring so I was thinking about changing it out. Im just wondering if it is a 28oz or 50oz balancer. It has 4 bolt holes for the serpentine pulley. Cheers
barnett468 418 Report post Posted September 6, 2018 Cracks in the rubber are extremely common and typically not an issue, especially on stock or nearly stock engines. In my experience, the percentage of 50 year old dampers that actually fail is probably 1%. I shamelessly plagiarized the info below from the internet. 1968-80 302 engines were built with a 28-ounce imbalance factor. 1981-2001 302 engines were built with a 50-ounce imbalance factor. 1969-97 351W engines were built with a 28-ounce imbalance factor. 1970-74 351C engines were built with a 28-ounce imbalance factor. This is a 50 oz damper if that helps at all.

If the cracks don’t appear to bad I will just give it a clean up and replace the front seal while it’s off.
