Big Block high torque mini starters

Recommended Posts

I recently installed a Powermaster high torque PMGR starter on my Mach 1.  You don't need to modify any wiring at the fender mounted solenoid.  Simply install a short jumper wire on the starter between the battery cable terminal and the start terminal.  If you want to go the other route without the short jumper wire then on the fender mounted solenoid (1) move the cable going to the starter to the post with the cable to the battery, this connects the starter directly to the battery, and (2) make a wire, 10 or 12 gauge, to go from the start terminal on the new starter to the post on the fender mounted solenoid where the cable to the OEM starter use to be attached.  The second method I listed is actually better.  Plus it's an old school method to help eliminate that hot cranking problem on GM cars with headers.
