sixt9stang 36 Report post Posted July 15, 2018 Makes me want to just buy a used engine so that I can drive my car instead of waiting to acquire all the parts to build my 302.

newstang 388 Report post Posted July 17, 2018 Decided to strip and repaint the engine compartment. the paint was peeling off from a brake fluid leak. so much for engine swap/ also installing the vintage air unit to clean everything up.
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted July 17, 2018 Nice! Looks like a busy shop. When you first posted, I was gonna get on you and let you know they sell rings for the 4.6, so you didn't have to buy another motor :) But anytime you have a wife who wants to be involved and drive the Mustang, I fully understand. You are blessed.
mustangstofear 608 Report post Posted July 17, 2018 Try silicone brake fluid next time, that;s all we use. It won't eat the paint.
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted July 18, 2018 If switching to silicone, I'd assume you'd need to flush the lines, no? What's the protocol Rich?

newstang 388 Report post Posted July 18, 2018 yea, had to speed it up. going im going for knee surgery in the morning and don't know what condition ill be in to bend in and out to paint. So did a pretty quick job that's good enough for the engine compartment. Now the difficult thing is to get the engine in there without scarring it. newstang 388 Report post Posted July 28, 2018 Got the vintage air unit in, some of the plumbing done, most of the front end and the Automatic shifter from a Lincoln Mark VIII. Test fit the console and I'm surprised it actually fits pretty well in there.
newstang 388 Report post Posted July 30, 2018 Today, the engine is back in, had to squeeze it in because of that MMR deep sump oil pan. 2 RPM and Grabber70Mach reacted to this

barnett468 418 Report post Posted August 4, 2018 there are some high perf brake fluids that will give you a slightly firmer pedal feel than dot 4 and hve a higher boiling point if that's what you are looking for.
