1969Fstback 58 Report post Posted December 11, 2017 I don't like scoops of any kind. I pondered vents in my hood and still may go that route. But I just have plain hood no scoop. So, the second hood I think is way to go. Rivets would be path I'd go.

MAC390 327 Report post Posted December 12, 2017 Don't want to upset those flamingos any more.
rwcstang 201 Report post Posted December 14, 2017 what about using the 2013-14 vents? it would definitely look more appropriate if you're trying to go for that pro-touring clean look. Those vents remind me of a DIY home depot mod lol.
Vicfreg 771 Report post Posted December 14, 2017 Ok, there is some cosmic connection between Flamingo's and louvered hoods. Check out the car the girl is driving and look at the hood...... Holy Jaguar Batman! Louvers?!?!? Flamingo??

In addition to the love here, my 3 brothers and nephew hammered me petty hard. I need to follow up with the moderators on my request to lock this thread :)
Ridge Runner 1,112 Report post Posted December 15, 2017 Yes ,but will the moderator thing work with your brothers and your nephew ?
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted December 15, 2017 No need for it I guess. Only heard from them about it for 3 days :) One of them did offer this advice: "I would do an overdrive tranny swap before I did a second hood. How big a deal is an A4OD swaperino?" I'm thinking he meant AOD or AODE. If I use my 4.11 ratio 9 inch gears, that'll make a 2.75 final ratio with the AOD's .667 OD gear. Hmm... what to do? The more I checked out old school louvers the more I liked them. I figured a 5" wide lover would match the late 60's GT 350's louver width. Home Depot diy mod? Got a bit irked until I googled house louvers. Yikes! Damn near match mine, uh oh.
Kevin427 18 Report post Posted January 2, 2018 If you dig it do it. it's your car and you can do as you wish. besides it's not something that can't be put back with a repop hood in the future if you want.

I actually found a photo of a 69 hardtop with modern vents doesn't look that bad.. but then again I like the new modern look on our classics.
bryonbush 85 Report post Posted January 3, 2018 I like that coupe but I think it would look a little cleaner without the scoop.
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted January 3, 2018 There, it's locked :) Heck, I thought this thread was dead. If I locate a nice Henry steel hood, I just might add a couple of rows of 3" louvers. The hood frame would have to be modified quite a bit as the only single layer of metal is at the scoop. I think there's place in Bako that punches louvers. Damn, just opened a new can of worms. MidLife, where art thou?
Midlife 814 Report post Posted January 3, 2018 I'm here. That coupe doesn't look too bad. I still think you need to take your meds, and double the strength that the doctor recommended.

I fired that doctor, he didn't like louvers either. This guy is pretty close to me, so I bought from him. https://www.ebay.com/usr/dkt1234
Vicfreg 771 Report post Posted January 4, 2018 One idea to end this thread would be to go with the machine gun louvers..... (not legal for sale or use in Kalifornia) Maybe our Aussie friends can get us some from the MadMax junkyard.....
