CG in TX 16 Report post Posted November 9, 2017 It looks like the correct lower dash color for my 69 Mach 1 project is Dark Charcoal Metallic (PPG/Ditzler 32586 or Dupont 9354). I hear that paint scratches easy and would like to spray a clear coat for protection. What would be the proper clear for a correct look: flat, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss or gloss? moodster 55 Report post Posted November 9, 2017 I wouldn't spray clear because it can get scratched as well but would be much harder to repair at that point. Clear has the benefit that when it scratches you can lightly sand/buff it out but you can't do that on a panel like your dash that has a grain texture to it. Also I haven't noticed the Dark Charcoal Metallic paint scratches easily... or at least, if it does, I haven't noticed them. david
danno 128 Report post Posted November 9, 2017 Is this the same color as the steering column?
stangnet33 88 Report post Posted November 9, 2017 It's should be done with an acrylic lacquer w/out using any clear coat. On 11/9/2017 at 11:11 AM, danno said: Is this the same color as the steering column? Yes, the upper parts anyway.
