Caseyrhe 650 Report post Posted September 16, 2017 Just guessing now due to size.....Fuel line frame clips? maybe post another pic of mystery bolt beside a splash guard bolt
Brian Conway 264 Report post Posted September 16, 2017 No help here but do recognize the bolt. The fine/tight threads struck me as odd making it/them memorable. Working on it. Brian

Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted September 16, 2017 They look like GM fender mounting bolts ,mustang fuel line clamp bolts are blunt on the ends with a notch in the side for self threading
Caseyrhe 650 Report post Posted September 17, 2017 They ain't for your car, Ridge nailed it.
JET 445 43 Report post Posted September 17, 2017 My car also had those bolts, I think there were only about 2 or 4 of them but after 7 years since I had pulled it apart I could not remember what they were for.
Raven R code 281 Report post Posted September 18, 2017 My 69 is the only car I've every had apart. They were in my nuts and bolts inventory.....and for whatever reason unmarked. No sign of corrosion from being exterior so my guess would be interior .
det0326 179 Report post Posted September 18, 2017 I remember those also on my car. Could it be lower dash bolts?
danno 128 Report post Posted September 18, 2017 I also have several of those. Could they be for the fender extensions?
Raven R code 281 Report post Posted September 19, 2017 They fit for the lower dash....could be that's what they're for. Funny that others recognize them too.
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted September 19, 2017 Where in the lower dash? All of my lower dash mounting bolts looked like this with the captive washer: Back to Jim's post, none of my oem bolts have that head mark, which may mean nothing.
Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted September 19, 2017 My dash bolts are the same as RPMs ,i am the first one to take mine apart.I stick with the GM BOLT
Caseyrhe 650 Report post Posted September 19, 2017 X3, no bolts like that in my spare bolts tray, nor any removed or installed on 2 builds and 1 parts car disassembly

Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted September 19, 2017 Not really ,you would be surprised at some of the things i have seen on these cars . Someone just found some GM bolts and used them because it was easier than finding the correct bolts 2 RPM and Dave R. reacted to this

I am thinking these were used when the holes did not automatically line up, and the installers needed a guide to get them in. Maybe in a hidden place where they could not see if they holes lined up, and the bolt helped the pieces line up... like the fender extensions?
det0326 179 Report post Posted September 20, 2017 Could even be an assembly plant difference too.
Midlife 814 Report post Posted September 20, 2017 Those bolts are impossibly from GM. They are not completely rusted through... 2 1 mwye0627, RPM and Dave R. reacted to this

The 70 I bought, partially disassembled, had similar bolts like the ones pictured. The prior owner had tagged and bagged them....lower radiator brackets and then several for the fuel line clips
1969_Mach1 333 Report post Posted April 19, 2018 They do look like the lower radiator mounting bracket bolts for a saddle mount radiator. But the quantity Raven has is more than what those brackets need.
