Midlife 814 Report post Posted July 13, 2017 2.50 or 3.50? 2.50 is awfully slow for off the line.
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted July 13, 2017 Highway gears buddy. Yep, 2.50:1 is what I'm after. But thanks for checking Randy, as I often transpose, skip or just forget numbers and stuff in general these days. I currently have a set of the 2.50s in my car which are really noisy, looking for a set in better condition. Switching from 3.50 to 2.50 was a huge change, but it's not as bad of the line as I'd thought it be. Oddly enough, I'm kinda liking these big gears. Hmm...El Mirage is only a couple of hours away... Caseyrhe 650 Report post Posted July 13, 2017 Guess you'll catch'em on the tail end or should we start watching for a red Mach at Talladega or Daytona

Midlife 814 Report post Posted July 14, 2017 Have you thought about mounting tires with a 50 inch overall diameter? You might achieve the same effect... 1 RPM reacted to this
Caseyrhe 650 Report post Posted July 14, 2017 I don't think they have a mustang tractor pull class, but stranger things have happened. 1 RPM reacted to this

And with temps at 104° and rising this week a laugh is a good thing. Thanks Bob, can you let me know what the better set looks like please?
Rsanter 152 Report post Posted July 16, 2017 They are still in the rear ends
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted July 16, 2017 That's encouraging, and lends itself to the gears being in better condition than when left out in the elements. So what's our next step?
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted July 20, 2017 Still looking for a set of 2.50 gears.
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted July 26, 2017 I contacted the eBay seller and even though I bought the gears w/o warranty he's sending me another set. It never hurts to ask.

Bob & Sue 110 Report post Posted August 1, 2017 I have an almost new set no gear wear at all of 2.73 or 3.00 in the garage stored behind the car, I'll pull it out in a couple hours and check if your interested in them. Just pay shipping.
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted August 1, 2017 No need to look Bob, and thanks for the offer. I received a replacement set of gears from the eBay seller. They look pretty clean. I drove up to Fresno yesterday and helped my good brother set up the gears.
Bob & Sue 110 Report post Posted August 1, 2017 My bad anyway box said 3.00 on it but they're 9x41= 4.56 Sure you don't want them for Hi-way cruising. Think I'll hang on to them for now.
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted August 1, 2017 Ya 4.56 3.0 & 2.50's are all pretty close :) I also had a box of gears mislabeled as 3.0. These 2.50's are 18/45, talk about a big pinion gear! Thanks for checking.
