Parking Brake

Recommended Posts

Has anybody ever converted to a parking hand brake?  If so I'd like to see some pictures and recommendations on which hand-lever you used and how you ran the brake cable.  Been kicking this idea around in my head for a bit, but extensive console modifications and brake line routing has me a bit reluctant.

I am in the process of doing that now. I am using the handle from a 1987 Mustang.

I will be using the Ford Racing front cable from a 87-93 Mustang.

I will be using the Lokar universal rear cables.

I have NOT completed the conversion yet. I have the brake handle, I still have to purchase the front cable, & the universal cables & set it up to try it out & make sure it all works. I am also staying with rear drum brakes on my Mustang. After I cut out the opening for the handle I am making a reinforcement plate for the floor to make it stronger. I also found this on another forum where he installed a trans tunnel mounted parking brake.

Earlier in the day/evening someone posted some "spam" having to do with naked/scantily clad ladies.

WHAT? How come nobody told me so I could "inspect" the "so called" spam? Huh?

Found this at mustangs to fear.  Looks like they've done the console fab work for me.  Thanks for the replies.  Mike, are you installing a console or is it going to be straight carpet?

At some point before I finish the interior I will probably build a custom console.
