Vicfreg 771 Report post Posted January 18, 2017 Posting another minor project from my 1970 build. I obtained a set of fog (driving) lamps for a 1970 Mach 1. In spite of using a good bit of the old PB Blaster penetrating oil, one of the small studs broke off. So, a few quick steps to fix it: Sized up the stud and drilled it out from the back side It was about the size as a standard machine screw, so drilled it out a little more to the proper size, and ran a tap through the hole Dressed up the area with a abrasive wheel Used a Stainless Steel machine screw, and screwed it down tight Since the screw head is in the area where the gasket is, I just ground it down a little to flatten it out Finished product looks nearly the same as the other, original side 8 aapedVem, japedVem, Ridge Runner and 5 others reacted to this
Ridge Runner 1,112 Report post Posted January 18, 2017 I made the same repair not long ago .i used the stud from the rear valance ,puled the spring plate off and drilled the hole in the light body same as you did .Set the stud in place and hit it with the wire feed from the back through the hole ,then ground the weld down ,good as new .
