Does anyone recognize this master cylinder?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have done the conversion - the one on the picture should be the herebelow linked one"

http://www.dormanproducts.com/p-13226-m390269.aspx?make=Ford&model=Explorer&parttype=Master%20Cylinder&origin=YMM

It is 1-1/16" with four disc brakes (and 4 pots calipers at each corner) the pedal feel is quite firm even with the Bendix booster.

MustangSteve recommends the 1 inch bore.

I will try also the the 1 " but either the inlets are on the passenger side or the bocal is inclined.

THANK YOU!! It's so refreshing to get a question answered like this! I have the TuffStuff Pancake booster, I know I can't fit the original booster in there.

When you say you have done the conversion, are you referring to the Coyote swap?

Do you have any idea what Ranger master has 1" bore and lines on the driver side? I notice on person says his Ranger has it but no details and I can't seem to find it on Dorman. Everything I see for Ranger is 1-1/16 bore.

I believe that the Ranger mc is the best route to have the ports on the driver side and a using the other reservoir in order for it to be level. The pic in your first post is from stangtv.com. The only info on the brakes I found was the calipers were Baer and flex lines Earl's.

Yeah, I read the whole article looking for it. They don't usually get that detailed.

It sucks I will have to purchase 2 master cylinders but oh well. Doesn't look like they sell just the res..

Anything to get me away from the electric power brakes is worth it!

Have a set on my buddies 68FB that came on the car when he got it and also came with the Wilwood 3 pedal set and triple master cyl, which we wont be using because his wife wants an Automatic so now gotta come up with a power brake set up

For manual brakes this one should fit better :

http://www.dormanproducts.com/p-21457-m39568.aspx?make=Ford&model=Explorer&parttype=Master%2520Cylinder&origin=YMM

As written above I have installed the 1-1/16" , I have big bore Wilwood superlite calipers front 4 pot and 4 pot Brembo caliper on the rear.

The car is stopping well but the pedal feel is quite sporty : Hard but with small pedal travel

Please note that the master cylinder outlet are in mteric size in 10 and 12 mm bubble Flare .
