TurtleRacing 35 Report post Posted January 14, 2017 I just realized I never posted my Coyote swap. I meant to but been driving it instead! If you are ever throwing around the "should I or shouldn't I", Do it! Nothing to think about, it's well worth it! I did mine the hard way and it took nine months, with the kits available now, it should be very quick and well worth it. I went with a Griggs racing rear torque arm, Roadster Shop Revo front end. Coyote Crate, Ford puter, Tremec 5 speed and Wilwood Brakes. I drove it for a year and a couple months and now the Whipple is going on. I will post pics of that when done. 14 serhosting, yapedVem, tapedVem and 11 others reacted to this

TurtleRacing 35 Report post Posted January 15, 2017 Looks great, can you post information or links to some of the kits for the swap you referred to. http://www.cachassisworks.com/c-1469-front-frame-clip-system.aspx I wish Roadster shop had this when I did my conversion! I love their product, but all they had was the Revo and it took a lot of modification. This front end should go in nice and quick. http://roadstershop.com/product/subframe/1964-72-mustang-ifs-subframe/ I helped my nephew install the TCI and it went in almost in one weekend. But it's definitely not my favorite. If you want simple, probably doesn't get easier than this. http://totalcostinvolved.com/products/1964-1970-ford-mustang-pro-touring-ifs/
TurtleRacing 35 Report post Posted January 15, 2017 I was looking at Holley's Coyote test Mustang and I am curious if anyone knows what master cylinder they used on it? I have that pancake booster and I need a narrow master cylinder like the one on their car. I am NOT impressed at all with the ABS brake system! It failed on me at Dream Cruise and it was very scary! A simple pressure switch went out, it would come and go. They claim you have manual brakes when the system fails but I have never had manual brakes that takes two legs to SLOW you down from 35mph. And just as bad is when it does work and you don't know it, you put all of your passengers into the windshield! I want to use a good old fashion, works all the time vacuum booster. TurtleRacing 35 Report post Posted January 15, 2017 Nice, looks like you have a few MTF parts on there :) Have you guys changed your fuel tank? I see you still advertise 20 gallons and now you say it won't starve with 1 gallon. My 20 gallon holds 16.5 and starve with 2 gallons.
69FB 12 Report post Posted January 17, 2017 Love your car! I am planning to do the Coyote swap in my 69 Sportroof. I had planned to go with the Griggs suspension at first but have changed my mind and planning to use the Total Control setup. Also planning the Wilwood brakes like yours. I think your stance with your car is spot on. Love the color as well. I had planned to go black on my Mustang to match my twin brothers 07 Shelby GT/SC in color but now plan on a dark blue. Further plans include forced induction but I have a friend that owns a turbo shop. Again love your car in all aspects from the wheels up.
TurtleRacing 35 Report post Posted January 17, 2017 Griggs makes some very nice stuff, just very difficult to deal with. It was a hard decision between turbo and blower, in the end it came down to space. Thanks!
TurtleRacing 35 Report post Posted January 22, 2019 I installed the Whipple last winter, what a fine kick in the pants! Absolutely worth it. What a fun car. Ran a couple road courses last summer and it handled great and surprised the Vette and Hellkitty guys!

But we've never had a complaint in 8 years on our old style.

Actually, you have had a complaint! I called and talked to you and someone else about it. I was told that changes were made, no one checked to make sure it was still 20 gallons and too bad for me! I also told you that it starves for fuel way too soon but that was my issue too. If you never had a complaint, why did you change them?
mustangstofear 608 Report post Posted January 22, 2019 We changed the looks of our tank for cosmetics reason only. We removed the lower sump that was welded on, and did a few other mods to add capacity. I don't remember personally talking with you. If your still having problems with our tank, we would swap it out with our new one for Free.
TurtleRacing 35 Report post Posted January 24, 2019 Of course I'm having problems with my tank, it didn't just go from 16 gallons to 20 gallons and quit starving for fuel on it's own. I would love to get it exchanged, please let me know what I have to do.
mustangstofear 608 Report post Posted January 24, 2019 Box up your tank and we will send a call tag for it. When you say it starves for gas with just 2 gallons, are you saying you're driving or racing with that amount ? I never have less than half a tank for any racing I do. I'm not currently aware of any tanks out there that wouldn't have a problem in hard turns with just 2 gallons. We started with an original 69 gallon tank and added to it. We also added one gallon of water at a time to determine how many gallons they would hold.
TurtleRacing 35 Report post Posted January 24, 2019 Driving, I would never race without gas. Hard acceleration, not even turning.
mustangstofear 608 Report post Posted January 24, 2019 How old is this tank ? We switched several years ago to the Stealth 340 From Aeromotive because it has a higher volume.

mustangstofear 608 Report post Posted January 24, 2019 We were using Walbro back then. We had warranty issues with them, but never anything with starvation
