Trunk adjustment

Recommended Posts

Do not bend it ,it is probably where the hinge goes into the trunk lid .There is enough adjustment there to bring the rear or the front down .Loosen the bolt through the trunk lid in the rear and very lightly loosen the front one ,pull down on the back of the trunk lid while it is up and you will see it move .If the rear bolt will not do it ,reverse it and loosen the front one and lift up on the front of the lid .Try the back bolt first .

This is a fiberglass trunk lid but it adjusts the same . Loosen the rear bolt so it is loose enough to move the trunk lid up or down ,very lightly loosen the front bolt so it doesnt

keep the back of the lid from moving .

push down on the lid at the rear and tighten the bolt and close the lid it should have lowered the rear of the trunk lid .

Like i said if the back bolt will not do it go to the front bolt and loosen and lift up on the lid ,that will throw the rear of the lid down ,it may raise the whole side ,if it does lower the main body of the hinge at the wheel tub .

you may also have to put a flat washer between the hinge and deck lid on one of the bolts to get it to line up because who knows what has happened to the lid or body or hinges over the last 40 years . the deck lids are nearly impossible to twist by hand . if it needs twisting you may not easily be able to fix it.
