Vicfreg 771 Report post Posted December 8, 2016 I am going to install a Shelby Roll Bar (probalby the Tony Branda Version) in my 1970 convertible. Some questions I am seeking answers to: 1. Any recommendations on supplier? 2. Any pictures, advice, etc of the fit up and weld up of the brackets that are required to install the roll bar? 3. Any pictures, advice, etc, of the "measure twice and cut once" operation required to do surgery on the convertible interior rear side panels? It looks like you need to cut the top off of the existing metal ones and graft them somehow onto the new panels. 4. Any do it yourself options to build a roll bar and cover it? Any help would be greatly appreciated! 2 Zefevinee and ThomasVog reacted to this
Rsanter 152 Report post Posted December 8, 2016 I installed a roll bar into a 66 conv a while back. I had a plan that I was going to take foam and trim it to shape around the roll bar and then leather cover it. If you want to do one yourself that would be how to do it Bob

Ridge Runner 1,112 Report post Posted December 11, 2016 I don't have one for a 69-70 convert ,if it is like the 65-68 it requires a different interior trim panel .

Vicfreg 771 Report post Posted December 17, 2016 Thanks for the picture! Did you buy the new rear seat interior panels and the window crank extenders? I like the extra support you welded in, and I am curious if the rear panels and seat will fit with the extra rear support.
427Stang 23 Report post Posted December 19, 2016 The side panels fit with no modifications. The seat has been narrowed to fit with the mini tubs (325-40-17 out back). Just make sure the top mechanics clear in all positions.
