My new carlite windshield came with a 1970 mount preinstalled. What is the best way to remove without scratching?

channel locks on the mount and a plumbers soldering torch heat up the metal mount on low heat while applying a little pulling away pressure with the channel locks ( dont want to get too hot may thermal shock the windshield and  blow up)

once the the glue warms up it will pop off with ease.

any additional clean up with a razor blade on flat with some soap water

You can also simply hit it with a big hammer . They come right off . Carefully remove glue with a razor blade at a shallow angle and don't cut your fingers.

It's a new windshield so I'd leave it as is and install a mirror that fit it.  As my luck goes sometimes, the windshield would crack trying to remove the bracket.  Using heat might cause a crack do to thermal shock.

I would be careful if it's not installed and on body stand.  There more likely to crack when not supported

I've removed the brackets for the last 45 years with a torch and a pair of pliers, never broke one yet :)
