Raven R code 281 Report post Posted October 25, 2016 Has anyone ever come across assembly instructions for a great Raybestos MK549 rebuild kit? It is for a Bendix master cylinder. Thanks, Dave
1969_Mach1 333 Report post Posted October 25, 2016 Unless there are reasons you want to keep that master cylinder, it's generally not good to rebuild a master cylinder. Reason being is when they are made the bore does not have any type of honed or sanded finish. The honing or sanding done to clean the bore during a rebuild leaves a much reougher surface than originally there and prematurely wears the seals. Wheel cylinders have this same situation. Brake calipers are okay to rebuild as long as the piston(s) is in good condition. If your master cylinder is leaking from sitting for long periods (very common) and the bore is perfect so nothing abrasive is needed to clean it, then that is different and a rebuild should be okay. Raven R code 281 Report post Posted October 28, 2016 I noticed the instructions aren't that clear. Let me know if you need them and I can send a clear copy via email. Dave
