jholmes217 65 Report post Posted October 8, 2016 Do you mean 428 instead of 429? 1970 Mustangs didn't have 429s unless it is a Boss 429 engine. 429 Cobra Jets in Mustangs was only 1971 from the factory. 1 Raven R code reacted to this
Brian Conway 264 Report post Posted October 8, 2016 and if it is a 428... the ' A ' indicates Atlanta assembly plant. No CJ's assembled there. Could be a ' Police Interceptor ' 428 motor ? 1 Raven R code reacted to this
mystangalang351 12 Report post Posted October 8, 2016 Was left to me from dad. I was always told it was 70 but maybe not. Doesnt the 0 mean 70? The pistons do say cobra jet and it is a 429.

Max Power 74 Report post Posted October 11, 2016 Was left to me from dad. I was always told it was 70 but maybe not. Doesnt the 0 mean 70? The pistons do say cobra jet and it is a 429. 0 does not mean 70. The decade comes first in Ford parts code. The 60s were a C and the 70s were a D. If you have a 1970 casting number, it would start with D0, rather than just a 0. The 1970 CJ, SCJ and Police Interceptor should have a casting number of D0OE-B, standard 429/460 blocks are D0SZ-A. The casting number can be found on the side of the block, but running north/south, rather than the east/west number you are showing.
mystangalang351 12 Report post Posted October 11, 2016 The block is DOVE-A But the number above is a partial vin on rear of block. That starts with 0.Thanks for help.
Brian Conway 264 Report post Posted October 11, 2016 Partial Vin correct. 1970 Atlanta plant.
