Mach 1 resto in Australia

Recommended Posts

Separated the engine and trans today.

Cleaned and painted the engine ford dark blue and left the PI manifold alloy.

cleaned the C6 and then refitted it to engine , at least no surprises .

Got a modified shaker base we use on hi rise manifolds on our falcons to mount the shaker correctly so the shaker will be ok.

Yes, getting them ceramic coated i think.

Was working on the heater box when it literally fell to pieces,

Got a real nice unit off e-bag complete with all ducting $400 oz to my place , dollar is crap at the moment

And a jack and lug nut wrench never used $150 oz to my door.

One step forward two steps back but the end result will be worth it.

I think from memory coating is about $400 here. Surely you'd have a guy down your way that would do it. I think there are a couple of guys in Cardiff that do. They look great when they are done.

Was the heater box you got an original unit or an aftermarket one?

Not wrong, saw the dollar on the news this morning, it's heading in the wrong direction again.

At least it was only two steps back this time, not any more.

If you want a spare Falcon jack set, let me know. I'll send one down to you. I've got a heap of them.

Yep , was hot and humid and a couple of cleansing ales at the end of the day worked.

Onto the front valance and stone tray next, coming together.

Getting the rear bar re chromed at Newcastle Chrome, heard bad reports about Hamilton chrome.

Ordered Mach 1 carpet, set of door trims and drivers remote mirror, fold down rear seat carpet and i got a deal on all that.

That was the Christmas present.

You got treated well for Chrissy!

It's been a while since I've dealt with a chrome shop. Can't even remember which one we used to use all the time. I was in a bike shop in Broadmeadow so most likely the Hamilton guy. None of it was ever cheap though.

How far away is paint do you think?

We are hoping to paint in Feb, both of us have work next week but the car is coming along really quick.

We have not had any really bad issues so far .

The repop hood is crap , going to add metal to the rear trailing edge as the edge comes in.$700 oz and you cannot just fit it .

Tomorrow is another day.

You've done well, great stuff!

I for one know how hot it has been and still is. I've been on the spanners too but not on my stang, just work stuff. I can not keep the fluids up to me quick enough no matter how much I stop to drink water. I didn't get the temp yesterday but it would have been in the 50's. Last night we couldn't even sleep in our house, the A/C has been on non-stop for days but it's working over time and having no effect. Thankfully we have a small granny flat which we slept in instead.

It's meant to back off tomorrow though, back in the 20's. So I'm going fishing! ha

Did some more to the car today, started on the blocking with 320.

Drilled the holes in the repro hood for the hood pins, the hood is shit and we have to reshape the left side.

All will be ok just frustrating. Painted the engine bay and plenum.

Should be ready for colour next weekend or the one after, getting close.

Thanks mate,

Finding little things to slow progress but we are looking good and besides it's bloody hot.

We reckon latest finishing time is about 2 weeks or less then she's back home.

Getting the headers ceramic coated at Procoat Wyong.
