69mach1build 22 Report post Posted May 5, 2016 Hi everyone, I want to share the mustang I am working on with you. I bought this H code back in July of 2015, she spent about 4 months in a body shop getting a few corners, floor pans, and tail light panel replaced. I got her back from the body shop in February of this year and have since rebuilt the 9inch, finished suspension on front and rear, converted steering to manual steering. I am currently working on finishing my wildwood disc brake setup and next up will be my engine build. This is going to be picture heavy but enjoy! Feel free to comment and question! This is the first time I have ever tackled a project of this magnitude and so far it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I am attempting to do the entire car myself. 3 orahw1, sherriepl3 and randallzn1 reacted to this

Mach_1 18 Report post Posted May 5, 2016 Very cool! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the pics as the build progresses. What drivetrain are you planning on going with?

RPM 1,190 Report post Posted May 5, 2016 Pics are always a good thing! Had a bit of rust eh? What's the design and theory on the one main rear leaf spring and the short second piece?
69mach1build 22 Report post Posted May 5, 2016 mono leaf spring is a drag style setup from calvert racing. Rear end also has a spool, so I think you can see what her purpose will be! Are you referring to the cut off leaf spring end? I took that out of the car, it was garbage.
69mach1build 22 Report post Posted May 6, 2016 I finished up the front disc brakes this evening. With the 15 wheels I have about a half inch between the caliper and wheel.
69mach1build 22 Report post Posted May 18, 2016 I received this boss style 429 scoop today that I had made by unlimited products. I wanted one that was larger than stock to give the look I have in mind. It's great quality, curves to the shape of the hood and does have an internal flange for mounting. I will post more pictures once it is installed
69mach1build 22 Report post Posted June 16, 2016 I got my wheels back from ericvaughnmachine.com and they came out great. I widened them from 15x8 to a 15x10 which gives the wheels a final backspace of about 6.07 inches that fills up the wheel well perfectly!
69mach1build 22 Report post Posted June 16, 2016 Rear suspension is a pretty much stock setup, no plans of tubbing the car.
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted June 16, 2016 Nice. What did they charge to widen 2 wheels, shipping cost and how long did it take? Thanks.
69mach1build 22 Report post Posted June 16, 2016 Nice. What did they charge to widen 2 wheels, shipping cost and how long did it take? Thanks. Price was $250 per wheel! I live about an hour from where his shop is so I was able to drop them off and pick them up myself. Turn around time was about 5 weeks.

RPM 1,190 Report post Posted June 21, 2016 Hey Andrew, I deleted the last pic of your car by mistake when I was deleting the unwanted thumbnails. :(

69mach1build 22 Report post Posted August 22, 2016 Block is cleaned up and ready for her internals. Costa mesa R&D did a great job with the bock. And I ordered an all forged rotating assembly from cnc motorsports

RPM 1,190 Report post Posted November 17, 2016 Nice work! I was going thru from page one to see why you named her Heather, and saw in post #2 a woman holding the ring gear. You're a lucky man to have your wife/girlfriend that into Heather! Does Costa Mesa R&D video all their work, or did you request it or video it yourself. Keep posting! I walked in one day to check status and he said he just posted up my engine their new channel so I went to hunt it down! I thought that was cool. 1 RPM reacted to this
