henkster 19 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 Guys, I was given some very low miles 3.23 gears from a 2014 mustang. Does anybody know if they will cause problems in a 1970 coupe with a 8.8 rear end. Previous owner put in 4.11 gears in the coupe and i want to cruise more on lower RPM's .The engine is a original 302.
RogerC 151 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 302 auto trans? Probably came with 3.00 or 2.79 gears from the factory so 3.23 gears should be fine. Former B-52 guy?
DRASTiK 22 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 I swapped from 2.79 to 3.25 gears (top loader). It's a great compromise between cruise-ability and acceleration on demand.
