Ridge Runner 1,112 Report post Posted April 26, 2016 This is a Shelby style roll bar .It mounts at the upper seat belt hole along the inside of the roof ,and a bracket that bolts to the rear door post . The upper seat belt moves to the roll bar and would be a three point type belt ,i am planning racing shoulder belts but the original had a retractor that bolted under the roll bar bracket at the roof . The bottom of the bar mounts on a bracket with a 1/2 inch bolt into the bottom of the bar and a 1/2 inch bolt through the inside face of the door jamb . A slot has to be cut in the seat side panels to clear the bar ,the seat panel can be removed and replaced with out removing the roll bar .The roll bar cover has to be slid on the bar before it is bolted inplace and there is just enough room to get to the bar mounting bolts and install or remove the side panels .The roll bar cover simply attaches with screws . I think this bar would be strong enough to keep the roof from coming down in the event of a roll over .The nice thing is there is easy access to the rear seat with no interference of any type .The roll bar is tucked out of the way and doesn't take up any space . I think i will have my bar power coated ,or a stitched padded cover made . 2 sandyoh2 and annta60 reacted to this
Rsanter 152 Report post Posted April 27, 2016 You cannot count on that bar preventing the roof from coming n but it could help. If,you want more assurance I would fab a tube or brace that goes from the floor/rocker up,to the bracket that the bar is connecting to. This will strengthen that area greatly Bob

mustangstofear 608 Report post Posted April 27, 2016 We started off with one just like yours but wasn't happy with the fit at all, so we completely redesigned it taking it all the way to the floor like our 65-68. http://www.mustangstofear.com/page.php?page=parts_catalog&yr=69-70&cat=interior∏=roll_bar_and_covers

Ridge Runner 1,112 Report post Posted June 1, 2016 The roll bar should be bolted to the shoulder belt holes loose .The bottom of the bar with the bracket bolted in place, loose enough to turn if you need to ,is 3 1/4 inches from the lip the wind lace slips over to the front of the roll bar all the way at the bottom .Clamp the bracket and drill the hole ,both sides will be the same measurement . Now you need to trim the seat panels for the roll bar to pass through .Set the roll bar cover on the seat panel and measure from the edge of the seat panel 1 3/4 inches to the top edge of the roll bar cover .At the bottom of the roll bar cover measure over front the edge of the seat panel to the edge of roll bar cover 1 1/4 inches .Trace around the cover on the seat panel and ad the with of the lip of the roll bar cover and this will give you the roll bar slot in the seat panel ,make sure to ad the lip to your tracing or the slot will be to wide and there will be nothing to attach the cover to .do not drill the cover mounting holes yet . Now unbolt the lower bracket on the roll bar and slide the roll bar cover on the bar ,,you may need to open the hole in the top of the roll bar cover because i think i cut them tight ,and bolt the roll bar down again .the seat panel slides up under the cover and bolt in place .set the roll bar cover where it sets the best on the seat panel and drill your mounting holes through the roll bar cover and the seat panel... smaller than the screws you will be using ,then drill the holes in the covers them selves slightly larger then the screws ...but not the seat panel .It should look like this when you are finished .
