I have 255s in the rear and 225s in front. 235s rubbed a little in front. although not all have experienced it. I have seen 275s in the rear at shows, and they looked great, but most had rolled fender lips. Some had scars on the tire suggesting contact.

I run 275/60/15 BFG TA's on my 70.  No rolled fender lips or mods for the tire.  Stock rear spring, stock height, new spring bushings in 2012, and Bilstein RCD shock absorbers.

I run those tires on Ansen 10 inch deep dish mags.  I think they would fit nicely on a 9 inch wheel. The tires are directly in line with the fender lip, street legal but right on the line. Stock height is a little high for many folks tastes, but you would be likely to have outer fender rubbing with any significant lowering, so take that into account for your choices.

The photo shows the height.

225/60/15 is shorter than the 70 series, and provides a stiffer sidewall which is better for spirited driving.  I like that combination.  Much better to drive on than my 69 Mach 1, with stock 205's on stock 14 inch magnums.
