Shep69 149 Report post Posted June 2, 2015 . As my car may sit for weeks it's a bit of a pain to prime up the carby. Can I run a inline electric priming pump while still using my mechanical pump. Once primed just turn it off relying on the mechanical. I didn't really want to go full electric fuel pumps as they are very loud.
fordguy69 24 Report post Posted June 2, 2015 The new pumps are not loud at all. The new Holleys are quiet for an external design and I used the Aeromotive Phantom that goes in the stock tank. You can barely hear it without the engine running. Once running, you can't hear it at all.
Shep69 149 Report post Posted June 3, 2015 Thanks for that fordguy69 . Maybe the Aeromotive Phantom is worth a look.
fordguy69 24 Report post Posted June 3, 2015 I love mine. I switched from mechanical because I started getting vapor lock problems with this crappy E10 swill they force down our throat. I am in Florida and with a big block and our heat, silly thing would vapor lock every time I tried to drive any distance in the summer. I would imagine you don't have any heat issues down under? :) The Aero solved all my issues and it's VERY quiet. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aei-18688/reviews/
coz 108 Report post Posted June 12, 2015 Good stuff here - I need to run an electric fuel pump since the new engine doesn't have a provision for a mechanical pump. Glad you brought this up FordGuy!
1969_Mach1 333 Report post Posted June 12, 2015 That Aeromotive system is nice, but wow, expensive.
fordguy69 24 Report post Posted June 12, 2015 Agreed, they are very proud of their stuff! But I will attest to the quality of their products. Everything I have gotten from them has been top notch and has functioned flawlessly.
