machm1970 180 Report post Posted March 12, 2015 Here's some project pics on my '70 vert. I bought it in November '14. So far I have removed and rebuilt the original numbers matching 302 and C4, rebuilt the brakes and suspension and detailed the engine compartment. The engine is ready to run, but I removed the dash to replace the heater core. As long as I was in there I repainted the dash, replaced the insturment bezel and lens, etc. I'm hoping to hear it run in the next 2 weeks. 2 Footcutter11 and CiaraFife reacted to this

Pakrat 1,043 Report post Posted March 26, 2015 Yeah, especially a '70 vert! Not a lot of those around still. How was the body? Give us some history on the car and definitely add her to our VIN registry if you haven't already.
machm1970 180 Report post Posted March 26, 2015 The body is so/so. I'm the 2nd registered owner. The guy I bought it from bought it from the original owners and never registered it, just did some work and flipped it. The Marti report says it's one of 34 made with Chestnut metallic paint and a ginger interior. Last weekend I noticed the "Flipper" patched the inner rockers. The floors, frame rails and torque boxes are solid and rust free. It needs a quarter skin on the right, a lower patch panel on the left and I will have to see about the rockers. The outside rockers feel solid, I will have to have a more experienced person look at the rocker situation. The floors and frame rails still have alot of original paint. When I rebuilt the engine I installed an Edelbrock 2122 cam and Pertronix, otherwise all original. About the only other thing I'm going to do non original is add a set of Magnum 500's. Paint probably won't be for a couple years, my wife isn't super happy with what I've spent over the last 6 months. I'm hoping to get the hood and fenders back on this weekend.
