bryonbush 85 Report post Posted February 23, 2015 ran into a little problem today. got the new trans back and when lighning everything up, i noticed that there is a fitment issue with the bellhousing separator plate. the spacer lines up good except by the starter opening. the plate needs to be over about a half inch for the bolt holes to line up. the old plate came off a 302 with 157T flexplate and C4 trans. New set up is a 351w with 167T and AODE out of a 95 mustang V6. SOOOO- what separator plate do i need to get? 2 Ronaldbaf and cobragary reacted to this
Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted February 23, 2015 You will need the spacer plate for the bell housing you are going to use .

Wycked69 20 Report post Posted February 23, 2015 The separator plate and flywheel have to match the bellhousing of the transmission you are using. So if the bellhousing on your transmission is for a 164 tooth, then you need the 164 tooth flexplate and 164 tooth separator plate. Based on your photo's, that's like what you will need. Most AOD's are 164 tooth.

Crazyhorse 21 Report post Posted February 26, 2015 Not only does it need to be a 164 tooth separator plate, it also needs to be an automatic separator plate, as the starter pilot diameters are different. (painful experience)
