RobotMan 265 Report post Posted March 27, 2015 Big day tomorrow!!! Sending car to paint shop. Finished seam sealing and finally done with metal work. What an odessy!!! Also had to remove export brace and was concerned front aprons would spring back open. So I put a 3/8 threaded rod between the shock towers and tensioned before removing the export brace. I added support behind shock towers to spread the load. It worked very nicely.
RPM 1,256 Report post Posted March 27, 2015 Looks nice. You better slow down or you'll pass most of the folks here. This doesn't look like your first rodeo.
Rcodenewf 44 Report post Posted March 27, 2015 Yep, you and your son are moving along nicely. I had my son involved with my builds at an early age and he now can hang with the best of them. Time well spent between Father and Son....commended. John

RobotMan 265 Report post Posted March 31, 2015 Richard Vickers in Elliston is doing paint. Mach2cj say you are from Lynchburg. What cars do you have? Should have lunch sometime to talk cars.
mach1cj 11 Report post Posted March 31, 2015 69 Mach 1 R-Code Red/Red, awaiting full resto/mod work. Still searching for someone to paint it, that's why I asked. Also have an 85 Mustang GT, already fully redone. Don't you work for Areva, or used to?
RobotMan 265 Report post Posted April 1, 2015 Yes, I worked for them when they were B&W, then Framatome. Left in 97 to run my own business. Been doing that ever since. My company builds industrial automation and robotics, hence the forum name Robotman. My name is Rick Bottoms. Do you work for Areva? What is your name? After much cleaning, sandblasting, and painting we have all the frames refurbished and ready to go to the upholstery shop. Exciting day tomorrow as we go to paint shop to see progress. Can't wait!!! Ridge Runner 1,154 Report post Posted April 15, 2015 We are all going to have to make a trip to RobotMans shop and dirty it up a little ,it is way to clean and way to organized ...Makes us look bad . I can't wait to see the progress at the paint shop .
RobotMan 265 Report post Posted April 18, 2015 We visited the paint shop on Thursday and were quite excited. They were still working on sanding and final blocking after first coat of primer. Body shop said it was the first car in 15 yrs they had used only metal filler due to the metal work being done so well. So hats off to Alex and I!!!! No bondo in our car!!!! Car looked great and can't wait to see it painted.
