Recommended Posts

Been a member about a year and have asked many questions and gotten many answers. Thought I would share the progress with the forum readers. So here goes....

Bought the car in late 2013 from Chris Stage in Bedford, VA.

Got it home and could not wipe the grin from my son's face!!!

The car needed complete body repair. We have installed new torque boxes, full 1 PC floor pan, shock towers, frame rails - front and back, floor supports, firewall, trunk pans, rear taillight panel, quarter panels and extensions, front fender apron, front fenders, doors, hood, front and rear valances, and various patch repairs

Started by removing the rusty floor pans and tunnel.

The torque boxes were completely gone and floor supports needed patching.

That's absolutely wonderful to see your son's be so genuinely interested and involved in such a big project. Only wish mine would appreciate or be involved in such an adventure. Looks like an outstanding job so far ! Such a nice shop on top.

That's awesome your son is into that stuff. I am restoring my first car and going much slower than you two. I hope that having the car finished when I have kids will give them an appreciation for old cars and maybe give me the chance to do it again for my kids first car as you are.

G

ood work! Keep it up. Should be a nice ride once you are done.

Wanted to give a shout out to Chris Stage in Bedford VA where I got the car and various parts. Also, Terry at TJ Mustang in Salem, VA has been a great resource for parts and advice.

On with the restoration. Here's Alex working on the last quarter this morning drilling spot weld holes. We painted the inside and structure of the car with rust inhibitor.
