stangs-R-me 120 Report post Posted January 29, 2015 Looks great, love the color, and glad you went back to original. I'll be struggling with this very same situation in a few years. My car was originally Lime Gold ... however I've never seen it that way as it had a dull silver re-paint when I got it in 1981 and it has been Calypso Coral since 1982. The 18 year old me never even considered Lime Gold in 1982 as there were way too many "beaters" running around from Ford, GM & Mopar still sporting that popular hue !! I kind of like the color now ... looked good when Ford re-introduced it as "Legend Lime" on the 2005 Mustang. Was parked next to a '69 Camaro at a car show last summer painted GM's version of Lime Gold and it looked great. It had the white nose stripe and (I believe) a white vinyl top, and the owner said he gets lots of complements on it and is so glad now he restored it back to original including the color. Can't remember the last time I saw a '69 Mustang painted Lime Gold in person ... seen pic's and it looks good on Mach 1's with all the black-out treatment and Grande's with a black vinyl top, but kind of blah on a plain Mustang. The black-out hood treatment was an available option on all 69's, so I'd probably need to do that to give my GT Hardtop some contrast. Did not mean to thread jack !! Print Dad 58 Report post Posted January 30, 2015 Hello All, Thanks for the MANY kind words on the color choice. The more I think about it the more I like the idea. Talked to the painter tonight and he has a lot more painted, going to work on the stripes next I think. It is coming along Doug, this thread and forum is for people to talk and please don't think you jacked this thread. I hope you do paint the car LIme Gold, I think it would be cool and pretty uncommon. I must admit in no way am I saying blues, black and reds etc aren't cool - I am just saying - I think our car is going to be different and it will be back to the original color. I guess it will show people what these cars looked like a little after I graduated high school Doug, glad to hear that you have hung onto the car for so long. It becomes part of the family LOL Whatever you do - please keep us up to date. Be well all - stay warm Jim
70fastbak 16 Report post Posted February 1, 2015 I also love grabber green, I almost went with grabber green on my project then ended up going with grabber blue instead at the last min. I ended up seeing a grabber blue boss 302 at a local car show and that was what changed my mind. Looking great, keep thie pics coming.
Print Dad 58 Report post Posted February 1, 2015 Hello All, went to see the car yesterday and it is coming along. Most of the stuff is now painted green - then new carpet is in and the floors of course are done. As we were visiting, he was aligning the stripe stencils for the hood. I think the plan is to finish hanging the fenders and other body parts, then a wet sand and buff. The car has a nice shine already and I think it is starting to look good. Can't wait to see the rocker mouldings and trim pieces. For now - here are a few pixs of a little more progress. I know realize that although it may seem like progress is slow, things are being done and done right. I am very pleased with the progress - little things like fixing up the radiator support, adjusting hood push downs etc etc. Yes there is still a LOT of work to go but it is coming along New weather-stripping stuff like that - all take a little time, but they are predicting another 18 inches of snow tonight. I think there will be 3 inches of salt on the roads soon LOL The point is - not rush on our part. The car will come home after the roads are real clean after a few rain storms. I will try to keep posting a few pictures just to give you guys a little idea of progress. Thanks for all that take the time to look/respond to this. I am gettting real excited about the color even though I loved the black. Jim - - Print dad
