kennygunit 10 Report post Posted January 5, 2015 Hello, Which harnesses do you guys recommend for my 1969 Coupe? I need all the harnesses from the firewall to the headlamps. I plan on running a full MSD ignition with 6AL box, and a 3G Alternator. Also, the battery is in the trunk, but all the solenoids are in the engine bay. Thanks! barnett468 418 Report post Posted January 5, 2015 i usually just use stock type harnesses like the scott drake brand and modify them as needed. if you run halogen lites you might need relays to keep from tripping the circuit breaker.
Brian Conway 264 Report post Posted January 5, 2015 FWIW; Are you using the stock behind the dash harness's ? What sort of plug provisions do you have at the firewall ? The engine compartment and lighting harness's are dependent on the type of plug-in provided. Brian
kennygunit 10 Report post Posted January 6, 2015 I am using the stock wiring harness under the dash, and throughout the rest of the vehicle. The car does not have a tach, but i'm hoping to add one. I believe I just have the main harness connector (square one), and the firewall end of the harness from underdash wiring to engine feeds and alternator/battery area
kennygunit 10 Report post Posted January 6, 2015 I noticed a lot of the harnesses don't come with the square plug that goes into the firewall...where can I get one that has it already? http://www.drakeautomotivegroup.com/Store/Product/C9ZZ-14290-A.aspx?wid=
Alan_Mac 48 Report post Posted January 10, 2015 I recommend Alloy Metal Products wiring harness's for stock replacement. They are exact reproductions. CJ Pony parts sells them.
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 Why not check out and use a Mid Life refurbished harness? He's a member here, many satisfied customers.
Midlife 814 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 I was going to offer my services, but the original poster indicated a number of modifications that may preclude my work.
Topless69GT 28 Report post Posted January 14, 2015 I have a underdash wiring harness that was repaired and converted to a tach/ac harness several years ago. I can't remember who did it but he was in Florida. I have not tested it or used it and it is still in the shipping box. I was going to list it on here for sale once I dig it out of the attic.
