malcolm300 10 Report post Posted September 16, 2014 I know from the factory there is a massive gap on the rear bumper, what is the tested was of closing the gap? Do you cut the brackets down or is there another way??
latoracing 256 Report post Posted September 16, 2014 Haven't done it yet, but that is the way I am going to do it.
mustangstofear 608 Report post Posted September 16, 2014 If your working with your steel bumper, then you'll need to cut the bumper down and re work it. Then send it out to get it rechromed.

malcolm300 10 Report post Posted September 16, 2014 Yours dose fit well brian mine seems to have a larger gap at the corners and I wanted a tight fit as iv seen it on a few cars before.
tony 63C 14 Report post Posted September 16, 2014 It does take some shimming, tweaking and adjusting to get a nice fit. I spent a good several hours to get mine lined up where all gaps are equal like Brian’s car. However, the quality of the bumper also matters. There were / are different manufacturers, and as we all know, not all parts are created equal. I’ve seen some terribly fitting repops.
70fastbak 16 Report post Posted September 16, 2014 Most repops ive tried on different customer cars fit like s*** The other thing is are you using ford bumper brackets or repop brackets. Some of the repop brackets ive tried to work with can be a mile off too.
1969Fstback 58 Report post Posted September 16, 2014 I am actually thinking of going with a fiberglass one. Mustangstofear sell what appears to be a very nice fitting one on their website.
Brian Conway 264 Report post Posted September 17, 2014 FWIW and it may explain the fit; the bumpers are OE on my car. Brian
1969Fstback 58 Report post Posted September 17, 2014 Curious about the Massive gap. Where is it ? Brian The reason I am planning on going with snug fit fiberglass is in your last picture from the side. The gap between the bumper and qtr extension. Mine fits like yours, however mine is rusty and if I keep I plan on blasting it and painting it to match the car. Instead I think I will go with a snug fit. I installed a repop rear with factory brackets and it SUCKS the more I shim and tweak the worse it gets LOL

69cat&stang 10 Report post Posted September 18, 2014 I'm guessing he's got studs welded in place of the bolts then the holes are welded over and then ground down

1969Fstback 58 Report post Posted September 18, 2014 It this the look your after ? Do you have a pic of the inside?
mustangstofear 608 Report post Posted September 18, 2014 Most people already refer to us as MTF. We use the same style of mounting bracket as Ford did, we make it simple. What we do now for better alignment is not bond the brackets in any of our bumpers. This way you can bolt the brackets to the body as tight as you want, then fit the bumper. Next pull the bumper off apply the structural adhesive to the brackets, then tape the bumper in place. Cost is 295.
moodster 55 Report post Posted September 19, 2014 I'm guessing the MTF bumper is fiberglass? I'd like a bumper that fits that good which you could then chrome... are my only options to make one? david
