55Mach1 10 Report post Posted September 2, 2014 I still have the original stainless wiper arms with the horrible original blades. they work terrible. I want to convert the arm or the blade assembly to something beefier and better. does anyone here have suggestions on parts i can order?
tim42 13 Report post Posted September 3, 2014 I'm with you. Is there an arm that will lift up and lock like today's cars. It seems that one of my Cortinas did this and they were from the '60s.
fvike 172 Report post Posted September 3, 2014 I had regular linked arms... I believe everything you need to mount them follow with the blade. Just buy the correct length. The arms themselves isn't any different from cars up to the 2010s..

Angel 24 Report post Posted September 7, 2014 I used to drive my car in the rain all the time with the original stuff. However, I used RAIN X. That, my friends, makes all the difference. Give it a try.

Guillaume69 150 Report post Posted September 8, 2014 LOL!!! Very educative Fvike. This "Never drive it in the rain" stuff doesn't happen often in Europe. G

Something available in Europe or did you decide on something from another US model? Great car!
fvike 172 Report post Posted October 21, 2014 Those were actually on the car when I imported it from the states back in 2004. I think I change them once after that. The car is dissasembled now, so I'll go look for the wiper arms/blades and see what brand they are.
MikeStang 247 Report post Posted October 21, 2014 Standard 16" Bosch or Rain-X Blade has adapter to slide on to the arm its self and just clip the blade on easy and done
CarZombie 25 Report post Posted October 22, 2014 If only the modern was not black. I have looked at chrome wiper blades on my Mustang since 1973, and I can not get black blades into my head. Which is weird, since I have no problem looking at them on my two modern cars.
CarZombie 25 Report post Posted November 24, 2014 After thinking more about this thread, and remembering that the last time I used my wipers, the wiper blade came out of the blade holder, and almost resulted in a scratched windshield, I decided to go modern. I used Trico Exact Fit 16-1, FTR 16-1, number code below bar code is 27998 00161. I removed the original wiper blade holder from the original arm (mine is the bayonet type), fitted the Trico on the original arm. It was a very tight fit. I like the look as these are not a bulky looking as some other blades. Cost was about 9 bucks each at Advantage Auto.

jeff69 10 Report post Posted November 29, 2014 Detroit Speed sells a nice wiper setup. http://www.detroitspeed.com/1964-1970-mustang-products/121650-selecta-speed-wiper-kit.html
SWPruett 74 Report post Posted November 30, 2014 I am just interested in a more modern arm/blade setup that will work on the stock drive posts.
CarZombie 25 Report post Posted December 2, 2014 If you just want a modern blade assembly, the Trico will work. If you want to replace the arm (part coming off the wiper motor) and blade, then someone else will have to offer advice.
