Pics from Charlotte

Recommended Posts

I had a great time wondering around the track for the past two days. It was a truly different venue, nothing like I'd ever been to before. Mustangs everywhere, from old to new (new was the majority). The cars were parked as they came in, so no dividing up the year models. Boss 429's parked next to newer 3.7 Mustangs. '75 Mustang II's next to '69 GT-500's, just cool.

The Ford display was interesting, with the new 2015 Mustang as the center piece. The open track road course running in the background was worth the visit just to see that. I didn't attend any of the festivities, but heard they were a bunch of fun as well.

Here are a couple of pics of the cars that stood out to me. So many to choose from...

Nice idea, good thread! Had tons of fun up in Charlotte as well. Today is rainy and crappy so I am already headed back down south to sunny Florida.

I saw seven or eight 1969 Boss 429 there... Red, White, Royal Maroon, Black Jade. All colors were represented! Simply amazing...

On the track side, some had a bit of a rough day, I guess!!

WOW just about covers it. Even without having our stang there it was a blast, Sooo many nice cars. Froze our A$$ off early, sunburn later the same day!!.

SMALL list of things that were cool.

1) The rare ones in and around the tent in MORE parking. $$$

2) YMR cars coming down the street. Almost blinding.

3) The trooper cars.

4) Coming out of the tunnel into the infield.( Mustangs everywhere )

5) Standing on top of a building watching a GT 350 in race trim, going down the back stretch and thru turn 4 turning some high Rs.

6) Meeting members, 70mstang and chillininnh.

7) Backing into a car in the Airport parking lot when we got home( Maybe not cool, just a scratch.)

I could go on and on it was just AWESOME!!!

Still can't believe I missed The MTF booth...

Great pics! It was great meeting ya in person Zudman!

I was lucky enough to be a few steps from the RARE tent .. OMG!!!

I kept directing folks up that way cause they just didn't know what was in that tent.

So many Mustangs .. so little time .. Saturday I hibernated at the bar with the car covered out in the parking lot, but got to meet lots of folks. New friends from around the world

I stood around that car on Friday, thinking back I am pretty sure you and Chillininnh were standing there. Kept looking at it saying to myself I know that car from somewhere, planned to come back Saturday to talk but mother nature intervened. Would have been great to meet you both and some of the others in the group.

Judging by the pics, my 1969 coupe restomod will most likely be a rarer find than nearly any sportsroof (weird but possibly true). They are all beautiful and everyone has different tastes but, for me it's so weird the overwhelming popularity of the sportsroof? I've driven at least 12 classic mustangs, The vision gained in a coupe is priceless. Wonder how long it will take for the 69 coupes take off? Maybe I am just an idiot for sinking what will surely be over 50k into mine.

There can't be a ton of restorable sportsroofs left when you really break it down. Are coupes that undesirable? My next restomod will be a mach 1 so I guess I may have to wait to find my answer.

I think so, most people part out Coupes to rebuild Fastbacks. There are only a few of us that prefer the Coupes. When I acquired my Coupe it was being used as a parts car.

The calypso coral 1970 convertible in the background is a former car of mine. It is a W-code 428 SCJ car I sold back in 1977 and helped the present owner track it down a few years ago. It's featured in Jerry Heasley's newest Ford and Mustangs Rare finds book.

A lot of nice pics here. I wish I could have gone but between a critical time at work and the unfortunate passing of my father-in-law (deterioration of life due to alzheimers) it wasn't to be.

I Love my coupe. I don't hate the sportsroofs, in fact I wish I could have kept my 70 when I got out of the military. Had a 79 pacecar edition (my DD), the 69 coupe and a 70 sportsroof at the time and couldn't move all 3 so I sold the 70 (a solid driver) to a buddy.
