Auto Trans options

Recommended Posts

In the early stages of my 69 complete rebuild. Car is getting soda blasted rite now. Trying to narrow down which trans I want for the car. Going to run an automatic on this build. My engine will be a 427w that should tap out around 540hp according to my engine builders previous builds. The standard 3 speed feels very underwhelming given the attention to detail of this build. Was originally going to run a C6 but I would love a 4 speed or if they even make something with overdrive.

I'm located in Southern California. Budget is around $2,900.00 for this piece of the build.

Welcome Takoarm to the forum. As stated, the AOD is popular, I not know how much HP they can take. Looks like the Cali group is finally making up a good portion here. Were in SoCal are you? Good luck with your build. Make sure to post plenty o' pics.

I'm in Rancho Cucamonga.

She is still in breakdown phase. I have a mountain of parts waiting to go on when she gets back. Baer brakes, Currie crate rear end, replacing every bolt and wire as well.

Shes been gone 2 weeks and I am having crazy seperation anxiety hahaha.

Rancho Cucamongo? I love that shopping center at (I think) the 15 and 210 with Bass Pro Shop, Lucile's and the Remington. Damn, wish I loved closer.
