DarkBuddha 107 Report post Posted April 3, 2014 Looks fantastic! Beautiful color too. Quick question: which wire wrap are you using? Is that the Painless Classic Braid? Looks so clean.
Guillaume69 150 Report post Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) This is not from Painless, but very similar, I imagine. Found it on Amazon and for a fairly decent price as well: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004UHQMYW Edited April 3, 2014 by Guillaume69
Tgriffin91 27 Report post Posted April 3, 2014 You are so close! Very nice work, now finish her off so some of us know it's still possible!!!

Exactly what I'm looking for at a damn decent price (compared to the Classic Braid from Painless).
Guillaume69 150 Report post Posted April 4, 2014 Done! Now I'm gonna be able to finish doors and front. Very exciting!
Guillaume69 150 Report post Posted April 7, 2014 She's got her eyes back! Headlight buckets and valance edges went in nice and flush on the fenders. I'm really satisfied.
Guillaume69 150 Report post Posted April 11, 2014 Antenna back on, ready to rock'n'roll! And front is finished. At last...
Guillaume69 150 Report post Posted April 12, 2014 (edited) The sad news is that the guy who rebuilt my engine has now been dickin' around with me for 3 months: engine still not in!! So there will be no 50th birthday celebration in Charlotte for this car... I can't complain as I will still be attending in another super nice Mustang, but really, the whole thing is a little frustrating... Plan is to work on the doors this week-end: sound deadener, glass and panels. We'll see how that goes. Edited April 12, 2014 by Guillaume69
Bossed 10 Report post Posted April 12, 2014 Congratulations on your cars rebirth, looks absolutely stunning!! Hope the motor guy gets off his arse and gets you finished up. Really appreciate when people share their pictures and stories while going through the process of rebuilding their ride. It gives me some inspiration, so thanks
Guillaume69 150 Report post Posted April 13, 2014 Glass went in on driver's side today. For some reason, I really anticipated this to be very difficult, but it was a very pleasant thing to do. And rewarding as well, as this window has never worked better! I guess refurbishing the whole thing helped, sliders, shafts, etc.
Trinitys 134 Report post Posted April 14, 2014 The clamps make this amazingly easy. Looks great! Love the blue!
Guillaume69 150 Report post Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) I actually saw that trick on someone else's thread here, on this forum. Amazingly helpful, as it allows you to do it alone. Loved it. Edited April 14, 2014 by Guillaume69
InitialBoss 10 Report post Posted April 15, 2014 Everything looks so nice! I hope to one day have this nice of a '69 too. And the blue looks amazing! Which thread had that windows tip in it? I would love to read it to prep for my future resto.
Guillaume69 150 Report post Posted April 15, 2014 I can't remember which thread. I saw the picture with 2 clamps, and the comment was something like "a lot better with clamps than having your wife hold the glass while you bolt everything back in." So true!! Guillaume69 150 Report post Posted April 15, 2014 Got myself a spare tire today. Spare wheel looking good in the trunk!
Guillaume69 150 Report post Posted April 20, 2014 (edited) Finished driver door today. I saw so many exceptional cars at the 50th show that I am all pumped up to try and do half as good... Also got myself a fresher looking gas cap. Scott Drake repro is really nice, with the Ford part number and all. Looking really good on the back of the car. fvike 173 Report post Posted April 20, 2014 So the GT gas cap differs from the Mach 1 gas cap with the spring mounted cork in the cap? Didn't know that. Edit: Nice progress, you car is going to be a head-turner. :D
Guillaume69 150 Report post Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) Interesting comment here, as I noticed the same thing this pm as I was mounting the gas cap on the car: my original (GT as well) cap had the spring-mounted cork as well. Seems to be some kind of upgrade. The whole thing feels nice and heavy. Edited April 21, 2014 by Guillaume69
fvike 173 Report post Posted April 21, 2014 Yeah, the cork doesn't seal well. But how does the fuel tank vent with this cap?
Flanders 46 Report post Posted April 21, 2014 So the GT gas cap differs from the Mach 1 gas cap with the spring mounted cork in the cap? Didn't know that. Edit: Nice progress, you car is going to be a head-turner. :D My original GT gas cap also has a spring mounted cork thing in the cap too. I ordered a new Scott Drake one, and it has the option for installing with the spring, or with the screw-on cap.
Guillaume69 150 Report post Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) Same here. Is the screw-on cap safe, as Fvike mentionned? How does the fuel tank vent, if this thing screws on as tightly as I feel it does? Flanders, have you found a new part that would allow to keep the spring mounted cork or do you plan to remove it from your original gas cap? Guillaume69 150 Report post Posted April 26, 2014 Thanks Bob! Guys, I finally got myself a spot in my local shop (for a lift). Engine, tranny, exhaust etc going back in this week-end. And I'll be there helping (yeah, they accepted!) I can't begin to tell you how excited I am!
