Yep, that happened a couple times already. It's very embarrassing, you know, when you start speaking to people in a shop using the wrong language... They look at you like you are crazy or something. It usually happens when you are distracted or tired. I also seem to have forgotten some words. I know how to say something in English but struggle to find the French word for it. Especially with car and mechanics related stuff.

But make no mistake: if that's the only price to pay for having spent almost 4 years in a foreign country, then I don't mind at all. In comparison, the cultural benefits are just... incredible!

So, new home, new stories...

First, I finally was able to plug in my new LED lights from Vintage LEDs. Well, what a bliss! These things are absolutely awesome. I wonder why I waited so long to make that mod. Almost plug'n'play. Just swap the flasher and turn indicator modules, and you're good to go!

Then, one evening, after stopping at a gas station to top up before driving back home, impossible to start the engine. Zero. Sounded like a dead battery or something (solenoid clicking, starter dead), but I was a little skeptical since it's a brand new optima red top. Decided to jump start the car with my cables (lucky my friend was with me in his 68 fastback), but nothing happened either. We finally pushed it and it started fine in 3rd (it has a toploader).

Once back home, I decided to check the starter first and found out its internals were completely grenaded... I did not hear a thing, and still haven't got a clue about what could have happened. It is an original starter but may be not to this car as part number starts with C7xxx). Anyways, it was old. Replacement is on it's way already (Powermasters OE style) and hopefully, that should fix the issue.

Today, in addition to being Halloween, was an incredibly beautiful fall day in France. Amazing light which allowed a few nice pics. For those who like wine, we live in the Beaujolais vineyard. The 68 belongs to a good friend and neighbor of mine. Now that we are done restoring them, we just enjoy driving and looking at them.

Rub it in, just rub it in :) Very cool pics! Both cars look great, but the darker blue one looks nicer! Glad you're able to enjoy that American iron after all the crap you've been through.

Ridge, it's funny you say that as I was thinking exactely the same thing as I was posting the pics. I have never been to Sonoma or Napa valleys, but saw pictures and movies.

RPM, still waiting for USAA to pay. We came to an agreement and "settled" in June. Received a letter saying they were going to send a check "shortly" in early September. Still waiting...
