Door wiring holes

Recommended Posts

RPM is right the original door is 2 1/4 and my repo is not drilled. Does anyone know why it would have to be that large just to run the wire through for the door panel light?

Dave

The grommet is that size, at least from the factory.

This could work to your advantage. I removed my original harness with the large grommet and small (and cracked) flexible plastic conduit because I was adding power windows, door locks, and power mirrors as well as the factory door speaker and courtesy light. I made up my own harness and bought a pair of rubber door boots that I believe came from late model Mustang. I had to install a reducer ring in the door hole as the factory hole was too large for the late model boot. The body side hole was a good fit.

Where are they located exactly on the doors?

The bottom of the hole in the door is 1" above the hinge top and 1/8" in from the outer edge.
