New Brake Line Test

Does anyone know how to bench test new brake lines for leakage to ensure that the double flares are being done right?

I would hate to make all my brake lines and come to find out that I made bad flares.

As much of a pita it is, I've only heard of connecting the lines, snugging them up real good any praying for no leaks.

I porta-power hand pump with gauge and some if fittings from your local hydraulic shop. Depending on how much you want to spend.

A look at your flair is your best way to tell.

The double flair is a self sealing style flair, It is best to install them once at then check for leaks. Yes it seems like a pain but they are made to be compressed to seal once and match the shape of the fitting.

 

Always check the seatend side of the fitting for proper center/shape of the seat portion.This will be your mating surface, Angled or ovaled seat may cause leakage at some point.

you will have to seat, unseat, seat, unseat, and finally seat the line to get each flare to conform to the union/joint that it will attach to. Its a pain but its the only true way to do it with basic tools.
