69 mach1 Wheel and tire size

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am wondering what you are running for wheel and tires on your 69 mustangs, I am not sure what will work or not. I would like to run 17 or 16 inch wheels. My 69 has a 1 inch lowered front end and the rear is stock height. It has the original brakes disc in the front and drumbs in the rear.:cool2:Any help would be great!!

I am running american racing villain 17x8 front and rear . I have 245/45r17 on the fronts now but it looks like I could run a 255 without much issue. On the rear I haven't bought tires yet but I'm sure that a 275/50 will prob fit. The wheels are 6-1/16 backset and I'm running 1-1/2 spacers on the front. Prob the same in the back but haven't made it that far. 13.25 inch disc all 4 corners.

To my knowledge the biggest/widest tire you can fit on the rear is a 315/35/17 and that is if you massage the inner wheel well with a BFH as well as roll the fender lips. If I recall that is with about 6 inches of back spacing as well.

I haven't really dove into the front sizes yet. Hope this helps a little bit.

The 2004 mach1 rims look great in the rear. What size are the tires and the front rims and backspacing?

Is it a stock 9 inch axle? Did you have to roll the wheel lips?

Thanks,

Rich
