Electrical Issue with New Vintage Gauges Tach

Recommended Posts

Hello to all,

I have the direct fit performance gauges. The issue is my high beam indicator (led) is lit through the tach. When the car is running and I hit my high beam the tach needle will jump up to 3500 and then settle at 1500. The engine will never rev during this even though the tach indicates this. I have it wired up as instructed. Any ideas?

If its like mine, it's just a bulb that is in the tach but not shared with the tach wiring.

Did you run your own heavy ground for the gauges or use OEM wiring ground?

I'd ping Mark Surrel at NVUSA after that but he'll ask about grounds.

Please forgive the intrusion into this thread, but I have a question related to the New Vintage Gauges, as I'm a bit interested in them. Their 67 series states, ""halo-effect" turn signals and high beam indicators." Can someone who has these gauges explain this to me? How do I know when the high beams are on or what turn signal is flashing. I emailed Mark at NVUSA and he stated that I would find it on their website, even gave me the link, but this is still unclear to me. Thanks!

i would think 'halo effect' signal indicators are a bulb flashing on the edge of the gauge, but not directly at you, so you just see a glow of light when flashing. nice at night but maybe hard to see during the day.

these gauges look very nice, anyone have a rough price for this setup?

I am using the American Autowire Classic Update Series, so wiring it up was no problem. I was hoping to get some ideas before I call Mark.
