e brake ideas

Recommended Posts

Has anyone for a lack of a better phrase found a better way to mount an e brake. For example has anyone used maybe a Corvette style That's tucked down near the floor next to the door? Was thinking that may be a swell solution to the factory routing.

I think I know what you are talking about with the Corvette handle. It sits between the driver's seat and the door, correct? Getting the cables to work might be a challenge, unless you can also scavenge all of the Vette's chassis brackets.

I am planning to pull the hand brake from my 94 donor car and install that. I haven't started and it definitely won't work with the stock 69 console. I also have the 94's console and will look at it, but I doubt I will be able to do much with it.

If you figure out the 94new brake handle, let me know.. I used a 93dynamat console, cut the inner braces and reshaped it with a heat gun. The guy i got it from gave me the brake handle and intermediate cable /connector too. Just need to figure it out. Heres the console. I really just wanted something to put a drink in and reat my arm on.

Your 93dynamat console looks identical to the 94-98 console.

For the hand brake, there are also a mounting plate and cable guides from the trans tunnel that are necessary. Both can be fabricated. I've been told that it's pretty simple, once you've measured everything. Since you don't have the measurements, I'll provide them once I take them. (It may be a while, so please don't hold your breath.)
